Periodontal disease, better known as gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults 35 and older. With good oral hygiene and professional care, you can significantly reduce your risk of gum disease. Dr. Sheen specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease.
After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Sheen will recommend a personalized treatment plan. Most patients’ periodontal heath can be treated using non-surgical methods, including scaling and root planing (the careful cleaning of the root surfaces to remove plaque and tartar from deep pockets in the gums). Other patients may require more intensive treatment to rebuild the tissue around teeth and restore teeth that may have begun to decay, broken or that have already been lost.
